This is my version of the famous south American legend The El Chupacabra, the Goat Sucking vampire. A few months ago I met a friend, he told me that when he enters fights in Brazil they used to call him El Chupacabra, witch only got me to read more about it, and then interested to recreate my version of the creature.

This was sculpted on ZBrush, posed on Lightwave, Rendered on Modo.

Hope you enjoy

Hi all,

This is the Al Khamis Mosque, it's over a thousand years old, I was commissioned to rebuild the old Mosque to show how it looked at that time, so this is only how I saw it with the information available. I worked with historians, studied the left over structures, and had experts that know how the old buildings used to be build at that time. This was build on Modo, Lightwave, and ZBrush, the time was about two months with the animations, the animations are five different times of the day, it is the five calls for prayer for Islam. Hope you enjoy!!
I will put up the links soon..

Hi,
I was really badly sick for 7 days...but that helped me to release my demons with this illustration of the one that looks over Hell, Buer is one of those characters that is just striking and immediately captured my imagination when we first came across him. He is mentioned in the16th century Dutch text, “Pseudomonarchia Daemonum” as the Great President of Hell and is seen in a number of representations teaching philosophy, logic and medicine. His body is composed of the head shaped like a lion and is surrounded by five goats legs which enable him to move in any direction and travel at great speed. There is something monstrous about his features and his face is very demonic with both intelligence and evil behind his wicked smile.
Thanks Rashad for showing me this creature again

There are many representations of Al Buraq and I wanted to make my own to reflect some of the amazing things that are said about him. He was not very big but had massive and colorful wings and a tail like a peacock. It is said that he could traverse long distances because he could place his foot on the horizon and in one step reach that point. The shooting star resembles the flight of the profit with the help of Gabriel the angel... Al Buraq the flying Horse like creature waits as it is his duty to be there for the profit when he coms back to earth so he can return him to his home.

I just loved the story and some of the descriptions in it so I had to create an piece that would capture some of the beautiful imagery I imagined. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did...
some fun again...

Long time ago, Arabs from the middle east used to go onto journeys in the Arabian sea for Months at a time, some do it for pearl diving, others travel as far as China to buy and sell Goods, but there were a few that have been known as The Pirates of Arabia, they concored the middle eastern waters threw out time... they were smart and have designed many fast Ships that allowed them to sail to far lands, this is one of the types that still sails today in the middle east, it's a well designed vehicle that some say that it's origins come from Africa and India, it was a combination of many other ships, this type is called the" BOOM"..

Hope you enjoy this peace.

Today I wake up. Was it a bad dream?.I here the Birds. feel the lovely bright day out side. but something is missing.something is different.cant really smile. is it true?

23rd of March 2007, the last 24 hours has bean one of the worst days of our life's, we have lost a best friend a family member that is close to our heart, he lived with us for a beautiful 14 plus years and gave us some of the best years of our lives, it has been a great loss for me and my wife, and we have tried hard to keep him, unfortunately, we live in a country that does not have proper doctors for animals, so. the animals get to suffer.

Coco is my shadow, because everywhere I go, everywhere I sit. he follows, he always wanted to be around me, unfortunately in last period, I haven't had much time to be with the dogs since I have been always on projects with heavy deadlines & that really breaks my Heart!! But in the last few weeks I have had the privilege of spending more time with our lovely Coco. I am happy that we've given him a long life... I am happy that we have a lot of memories with him, and here is an illustration of how much I have him ingrained in my thoughts. I remember his smile so clearly. and wanted to paint this illustration for the last time.

I would like to thank everyone that supported us . Rashad and his family, thank you!! And My Lovely wife for taking care of us all and giving us a great happy life, I would say be strong..
to Coco... We will miss you dearly!! and there is nothing that I will say that can describe you enough..nothing, I hope that you are in a better place...and hope to see you one day!! Good bye to my little amazing friend.

Thanks everyone for reading this and allowing me to share these hard moments with you all.

Hi all,

Last year I have created this character as a concept sketch, this character has touched many people thru out the year, well more then I expected... it's really relates to something that everyone has experienced in one way or the other, everyone of us have met them in there life with different faces.... blood suckers basically ...this is one face only-!!

see the sketch
http://muharraqi-studios.com/muharraqi_gallery.php?cat=2D_CONCEPT_ART&id=4

This is what we wrote about it last year:
Every once in a while, we need to relieve some stress and like to sketch some funny concepts that lighten the mood in the studio... The Karkadan is one of those characters that we all have had the misfortune of meeting at least once or twice in our lives. A typical Karkadan would think that they know it all, can do it all and that everything revolves around them. It could be your boss, a client, a colleague a religious dictator or even a partner. M-Studios recommends that you stay out of there well away! they always have a lot to say about the way things should be... well, they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

A week ago, a good old friend from the USA, school friend, has given me a gift of a 3d version that he has created from my sketch design, it looked very impressive, and I asked him Why? as I was laughing on the floor... he said that the image inspired him.. and he wanted to do it..

William or code name Proton, thank you!!! now you have inspired me to take it to the next level!!!
hope you all enjoy... and have someone that it will fit into there profile, have fun with it

dear all,
As always it's nice to see the the forums are busy and full with action.
This is an image that I've always wanted to develop, but only got the chance on my break.
It is my representation of the evil creature that we all know of half human half bull, or even half God... not sure though.... there are many Dark stories that go further then the stories we know, it is a creature that trolled around the strange legendary maze that it lives in, and I imagined it to be dark like a dungeon, It is said that the Evil one feeds on human flesh and maybe it even satisfied it's sexual desires with these young virgins that were sacrificed to it, It's always expecting new victims to feed it's pleasure, the face I imagined does not look to much like a bull, but have some influences of a carnivore that are flesh eaters, it always caries the big double headed axe everywhere it goes, the Axe is old but given to it buy the gods , the skin color is very dark and much like it's environment, almost camouflage, that helps it to blend within it's surroundings, this makes it a difficult predator to spot in The Dungeons.
I have created the original model in LW then jumped on my first test in Z-brush, the final touches in the texturing in BP, I also used some of the nice 3dtotal texture CDs, it took about 15 to 20 days and two nights ago I felt it was done, please tell me what you think and if you have any comments.
thanks for your support.
Oh!! and thanks brother for the title, also thanks to my good friend & partner and to all who help influence me to keep on going

Hi all,
This is a 3-D model that I have created a few weeks back, I was working on a short for it but got a lot of work that stopped me from progress.
The Hunting Toy is part of the few characters that I was relating with the Arabian traditional sports, in history the Royalty or the wealthy Arabs have always had the interests in training these beautiful birds to hunt other birds just for sport, So I wanted to create a robot remote controlled machine that has a jet coming threw the length of It's body, This robot was not so well built, It was build in an old fashion to other technologies in it's time, So the designers that created it used older methods of building robots, Maybe they lack the technology in that part of the world, but never the less it still works, If you look at the textures you will see signs of crashes, That it's an old model of it's time-!! The textures were painted with the influences from the traditional Omani Daggers, all hand painted in BP.
If you want to see more renders please visit this location, Just follow the Falcon Icon
The purpose of the animation is only to test that all works, in the final it will take much much longer to get it right!!

It seems that this part of the world is always in the news and
unfortunately usually for something bad. Having seen Bahrain's name in the
news repeatedly at the beginning of last month for the start of the Formula
1 season, the month ended with more mentions but for the boat tragedy on the 30th of March.

The trip was organised to celebrate the end of major construction on the
Bahrain World Trade Center, a project we have been also involved with
creating the visualisations for. The buildings are unique structures on
the island and were meant to create a landmark, not only on the skyline but
also in terms of the use of renewable energy and construction techniques.
All of this went off without a hitch and on schedule. If only the
celebrations as well. 58 people lost their lives in the sinking of the 'Al
Dana' pleasure boat may their souls rest in peace and our thoughts and prayers are with their families
and loved ones. We live in hope that in the future, we will make the news
for all the right reasons and not the wrong ones.

Anyway, here are the latest images of the towers as they will look when completed

Dear all,
It has been a while but I finally have something to show, It is not the movie that I wanted to work with but it is a job like any other, we always try to do our jobs as fun as possible even if it wasn't, well this is one of the biggest projects in my country, there are many more to come in the region, and after almost four months I am happy to present this to you, the most interesting bit here would be that all the visuals and the 3D models were built by me, almost 3.5 million polygons on screen all rendered at the same time, I am using the AMD PCs and Apple G5s for the project, and they work beautifully together, I still would like to encourage all artists to feel good about them selves and not stop creating, this is a great example for all to feel confident about them self to be able to complete gigantic projects without having many people working on the project or having big organization names that claim that thats the only way for things to be done, the time has changed and the software developers and hardware developers have started to deliver better faster and more reliable products to be the best tools for the artist to be able to visualize there dreams or others, so don't think small think Bigger and always open your sails wide and proud to move forward to your destination
These are some links to some interviews to the website for NewTek, I did build all the models and all the details on LW
http://www.newtek-europe.com/uk/community/lightwave/muharraqi2/1.html
The other is an interview with 3dtotal, I did use some of there nice CDs for textures
http://www.3dtotal.com/team/interviews/Khalid_Muharraqi/3d_total_article_Khalid_01.asp
If you want to have printed material you can get a copy of 3Dworlds Magazine issue 65 jun2005 there are a few pages interview with NewTek.
http://www.computerarts.co.uk/3dworld
for more renders go here
http://muharraqi-studios.com/durrat3.html
also you can go onto my web site to download a 5 minute animation fly threw, This is part one from two parts, the only reason it was chopped into two was because the client had a presentation on the 16th and needed me to give him part of it, the fish sequence was designed to get you in the mood of the concept, the islands have different shapes that represent different creatures, so we start with the popular Bahraini or middle eastern fish called the Hamoor, and then they site in there final formation before it transforms to the fly threw, The animation was then rendered threw my render-farm that Ben in NewTek europe helped me to setup, the sound and Music Design was developed by a great friend of mine currently in the Hollywood industry Joel Payne, he is currently working on the latest video Game the legendary mortal combat sequel.
26mb Divex requiered go to my website and you will find a link there for the movie.
http://muharraqi-studios.com/
Finally I would like to thank all that gave us the opportunity and we are always grateful to all the supporters that believed in the vision we had, also I would like to ask all artists to be proud to be in this industry and never stop dreaming thats what keeps us rolling, and If I can do this then anyone could

I was strongly influenced by the sinbad travels to the strange land and finding new discoveries and new exciting landscape, this is were this location looks interesting strange but familiar and warm with a bit of a morning light the day starts with these strange creatures going on there first flight of the day. The architecture was an old design that I used for a monument for one of my clients, there's really is not much to say here other the I used the same object then re-light it and finally retexture it with new images with basic projection texturing. This image was powered by 3Dtotals total textures...
